Area planning

How many square metres of wall cladding do you need?

Calculate the required area directly here. Add one or more walls, subtract windows, doors and other openings, and include an additional waste allowance if required.

Order a sample before you decide

Natural wood is best judged in person. Order a matching sample to assess the real colour, texture and surface before planning a larger wall or interior project.

Reclaimed wood wall panels before installation on a prepared wall
01

Acclimatise the panels and choose the correct adhesive

We recommend leaving the wood panels unpacked in the new room for 1–2 days before installation so that they can acclimatise to the room climate. Use only a water-free, flexible polymer-based assembly adhesive. Do not use water-based dispersion adhesives, as they can cause the panels to deform.

Tools and preparation for installing reclaimed wood wall panels
02

Prepare the wall

Make sure the installation surface is relatively flat. The substrate must also be clean, dry and free of dust. The product is intended for rooms with a relative humidity of approximately 40–60%. Because the panels are made from natural wood, installation in areas with high humidity is not recommended.

03

Attach the panels to the wall

When choosing the adhesive, follow the adhesive manufacturer's specifications for the substrate and the required amount. Apply the adhesive as specified and make sure adhesive is also applied near the corners of the panels.

Choose your laying pattern

The panels can be arranged in your own pattern: horizontally, vertically, diagonally or in another layout of your choice. Plan the layout before fixing the panels permanently.

Expert answers

ALM & Kitzbühel – expert answers

Practical guidance for adhesive-mounted ALM and Kitzbühel natural wood panels.

Which adhesive should be used for ALM and Kitzbühel panels?

Use a water-free, flexible polymer-based assembly adhesive that is suitable for both the wall substrate and natural wood panels. Water-based dispersion adhesives should be avoided.

Why should ALM and Kitzbühel panels acclimatise before installation?

Natural wood adjusts to the climate of the room. Leaving the unpacked panels in the installation room for 1–2 days helps the material adapt before permanent bonding.

How should the wall be prepared before bonding the panels?

The substrate should be relatively flat, clean, dry, stable and free of dust. A sound substrate is essential because the adhesive bond is only as reliable as the surface beneath it.

Can ALM and Kitzbühel panels be installed horizontally, vertically or diagonally?

Yes. The panels can be arranged horizontally, vertically, diagonally or in another planned pattern. It is useful to lay out the pattern visually before permanently bonding the panels.

What room humidity is suitable for these natural wood panels?

A relative indoor humidity of around 40–60% is a suitable target range. Very damp environments should be assessed carefully before installation because natural wood reacts to moisture.
